treasuring your other half

was at the gym this evening and they were airing power 98 over the radio.

the DJs were talking about how guys will treasure their other half more if they had to make an effort to chase them. for guys who have it easy and have everything laid out for them i.e girls chasing the guy, girls doing all the work and stuff, they will usually not treasure the girl that much.

having said that, it brings to mind the common saying that one has to work hard in order to obtain something you really want.

and having said that, it brings to mind a common phenomenon (for me at least when it comes to relationships) that the more you want it, the more unlikely it'll turn out the way you wanted.

the irony...haiz

articles

havent exactly been reading alot recently...just so happen that there were newspapers at home yesterday and that duet magazine which sdu sends everynow and then...and i came across some interesting quotes and stuff from the articles i read...

from duet...
"it's important for guys to take the initiative to plan the Valentine's date and the majority of all outings too. Why? Because girls love to be pampered and they want their men to be decisive."

"Be open to accepting and trying what the other person likes and chances are, you'll find the experience rewarding"

"good communication and compromise is key. Accept each other's suggestions but not at the expense of feeling short changed or like you're the one giving more."

"time for yourself and family is important too so remember to give each other some space."

"try new activities and always find quality time for fun and relaxation"

"dating is like going for interviews. the process is for both parties to get to know each other and assess whether they are compatible as partners for life."

"in a successful relationship, finding a right partner is only half the equation. the other part is that we have to be the "right" partner too."

"in life, no one is responsible for our happiness except ourselves."

"know that you have the power to choose what you want in life, including what kind of relationship to have. do not put your happiness or life in the hands of another. sometimes, it calls for courage to walk away from a relationship that is destroying us physically, emotionally and spiritually. everyone deserves to love and be loved in return."

from the papers...
"while extroverts need company like the Energizer bunny needs batteries, introverts recharge bt spending time alone"

"some introverts learn to keep up a stream of conversation but those who can't or won't tend to get labeled as shy, aloof or arrogant."

"if you're an extrovert, be confident that the introvert next to you is enjoying your company. if he isn't, don't worry about it. it's not like he's going to tell you."

"if we introverts ran the world, it would no doubt be a calmer, saner, more peaceful sort of place."

"you're so quiet i sometimes forget you're there"

"it can be hard to relax with another person when silences keep breaking up the conversation. but not if you understand that "if someone is being quiet it doesn't mean they're having a bad time; it doesn't mean they're lonely or need psychiatric help or medication."

"there are more ways to fit yourself into a conversation than by talking; you can do it by showing that you're listening."

"what you do or don't do will always have consequences. the trick is to read far ahead enough to see those consequences, decide if you like them and then act. but whatever you do, i hope you will be happy with yourself. and from there, to be happy with others."

"sometimes you don't need a lot of words to tell a story with a happy ending."

mini day trip to JB

met up with meimei after sunday morning's bt timah trek with the guys...

we went city square to jalan and visited the secret recipe over there...we ordered 3 slices of cake and a small pot of earl grey tea...i guess we were too greedy wanting to try 3 flavors at 1 go...ended up not being to finish the cakes...hehe

mango delight...best out of the three

chocolate chip walnut...2nd best

banana chocolate...least favorite out of the three

one thing about secret recipe cakes is that they got alot of cream...those that make u full in no time one...in any case the lesson learnt here is that order cake cannot be too greedy...

made our way to this place for dinner under the evening rain
plan was to try their famous roast duck (a huge roast duck display adorns their shop front)...unfortunately it was sold out le...so we ended up just ordering 2 of their signature dishes...

our wheat grass drink

herbal chicken...very nice but 1 whole chicken is too much or 2 people to finish...i've never wasted so much good meat before wo...lol

what's left of the claypot egg tofu dish...

we left the shop with full stomachs and learnt another lesson...we should actually order dishes that are actually meant for 2 people...hehe

its only 2 weeks into 2008 and i've attended 2 of my army friend's wedding dinners...last friday was Youwen's and ChinSin's was on tuesday...incidentally both were held at the the Furama Riverfront and at the same ballroom...

fortunately the menu weren't the same...hehe

anyways it was fun feasting with my army friends...the yum seng portion was very spirited...i can confidently say that we, the "army friends" section of tables were the most vocal...lol

will post pictures when i get them...hopefully can get though...

and guess what i got from meimei to top-up my mr snowman tin today...pineapple biscuits! they taste almost like those cny pineapple tarts...yummy

1st post of 2008

nothing interesting happened over the christmas/new year period...meimei wasnt around and i kept myself busy with training and my akatsuki gundam kit...

anyways...meimei is back =)...2008 is here...another 12 more months to go...hee

went to fisherman's wharf for dinner before going to ark cafe as the cafe no longer served any meals...they serving only chips+drinks...for more info...visit http://www.theark.com.sg/ArkCafe/ArkCafeFrameSet.htm

it wasnt extremely packed that day...which was good...lighting could have been made dimmer to make the ambience even more cosier...we were entitled to a drink each...we ordered a green apple + choc/coffee frappucino which were pretty yummy

there were 4 singers that day...2 guys and 2 gals...the performance started at 8pm all the way till 11pm...they were nice enough to extend till 11.15 though...sthg like those encore we see at concerts...

backed up with only a piano, the 4 singers sang a host of songs...the majority being dedications made from the floor...4 songs from our table's dedication made it to the playlist (蒲公英的约定 by jay chou, 味道 by 辛晓琪, 我真的受伤了 by 张学友 and 小情歌 by sodagreen)

last sunday went to bt timah trek with the guys and a few activity ideas were being discussed...like going malacca makan...biking from changi village to ecp using the new park connector...go ipoh for whitewater rafting+caving/abseiling...visiting the other music cafe at marina square (http://www.musicdreamer.com/index.html)

together with the bangkok trip and the kk trip...1st half of 2008 seems like very eventful already...lol
