2nd last day of 2006

the kitchen sink tap decided to ko itself last night...couldnt turn it off at all...so we had to collect water in buckets water rationing style for a night by turning on/off the main water supply outside the house...

but THANK GOODNESS this episode occured YESTERDAY so at least today i could get a new tap and all the what nots at motherland and get it fixed today...otherwise it would have been water rationing till next wednesday....omg...

above is photo of peili's wedding at the "primary sch classmate table"

opened up my maxfactory ignis and snapped a few shots of it...and my casio exlim's battery is still going strong!

brought forward my sunday run to this evening...my first mid-dist run since marathon...all was going well until 30min liddat when my right knee joint started to hurt...it had that joint want to pop out kind of feeling...managed to finish my tanglin route w/o slopes in 37.68min...

plan for this long wkend?
visit sunshine plaza again tmr to get the white spray can...saw it on offer yesterday but the shop was closed...
maybe i'll start another kit...

an unexpected aquisition....hohohohoho

made a trip to sunshine plaza to order 2 MG strike freedoms(normal version) from HAG--price is too itrresitable--1 for me 1 for leonard...

made 1 round around sunshine plaza....noticed 1 new model kit shop--it has quite a collection of those really ancient bandai gundam kits...as for the prices there--not much to crow about though...

went into la-tendo and guess what i stumbled upon!

a maxfactory ignis figure!!! muahahaha...
most likely my last toy purchase for the year...and what a satisfying purchase it was...easily one of the highs for 2006's toy campaign...

my list of highs, lows and misses for 2006's haul
highs
MG strike freedom FULL BURST
MG strike IWSP
ignis pvc figures
1/100 infinite justice, legend
primus--hugest TF i ever own+nice robot mold
THS-02 convoy--just look at all the details for this little bugger!!...if only they made him in masterpiece scale...omg...

lows
the so-called "limited edition" primus w/ unicron head...i'm only pissed because it was not limited and the price was SLASHED so dramatically after it flooded the market
HG 1/144 saviour--why did they release the 1/100 version sooo late?!?!
1/72 0S battroid--pissed because of its yellowish white plastic

misses
alternator mirage--where art thou my ford GT?
BT rodimus--i hope they slash the price for this overpriced plastic ford GT
MP03 starscream--not exactly the color i want but the details are great man...for once i hope there is a repaint for a TF figure
classics rodimus, bumblebee, jetfire, grimlock--they better be in stock next year when the price drops

toys to look forward to in '07?
i pray/hope bandai will make a 1/100 akatsuki owashi+shiranui

MG strike freedom has arrived...hohohohohoho

the long awaited called from tfh came last night informing me of the arrival of my MG strike freedom FULL BURST...hohoho...highly sought after kit and is currently sold out EVERYWHERE...that's if the shops are able to get any stock in...thank goodness i preordered mine real early to avoid disappointment...hoho

it's been raining EVERYDAY...i hate that shoes wet socks wet feeling...i wonder isit the way i walk or sthg cus water just seem to pour into the front of my shoes whenever the floor is wet...my feet movement just flicks up loads of water and wets the front of my shoes and socks and eventually the whole shoe and sock is soaked...

trying to pick up run trng again...it's been tough to get back into it for some reason after the marathon...recent runs have left me panting like mad with some pain in my right knee...

think i will not jump straight back into long distance running...will start preparing for next yr's 2.4 instead with more sprints and intervals...maybe do just abit of slightly longer runs

Bishōjo figures

my first foray into "Bishōjo" pvc figures...a 1/8 Ignis by Alter...from what i found out online...this Ignis character is actually from a *ahem*hentai game called Jingai Makyo...heh...

for me it was always robots robots robots all the way until i started to frequent dannychoo's blog http://www.dannychoo.com/index/eng/ ...hurhur...and got exposed to these pvc figures...the figure that actually caught my eye and eventually led me to other areas of his blog (apart from the gundam section) was this-- http://www.dannychoo.com/blog_entry/eng/654/Igunis/ ...this one's by maxfactory and is currently sold out at most places...

these pvc figures cost just as much(if not more than)a full price MG kit...thankfully only a few are worth getting imo...otherwise my toy fund will be dealt with another blow...tf+gundam+figures...wooo

i'm hoping tfh can get the maxfactory one for me and also next jan's GIT's SAC motoko kusanagi...meanwhile the Alter one will have to suffice...a nice christmas prezzie for myself

Dune II

dont know what triggered it...but this game just came to mind for no reason when i was about to sleep last night...DUNE II

the very first RTS game i actually got hooked on and completed...and that was like way back when we were still using DOS man...wooo...seems so bloody ancient hor...

here we have the 3 houses which we could choose...house atreides, ordos and harkonen...
i can still remember how sud harkonen's house specific units were with the devastator tanks and it's palace's ICBM-deathhand...hohoho...atreides had the sonic tank which made funny noises when it fired a sonic boom...i think ordos had to lousiest special unit (in terms of damage wise) with the deviator tank...

hoho...look at the map man...look at the patch of spice...the extra red patch means got more spice there....hoho....so nostalgic siah...money to build structures and units came in the form of credits which had to be earned thru spice harvesting...everytime your harvester comes back to your refinery the credits meter will start to roll like a jackpot machine...

which brings to mind how slow the harvester units are...always a good target for sandworms...but somehow still fast enough to maneuver around to squish infantry units like bugs though...

got a sudden urge to play this game liao...anyone still got this classic?

almost 8 hours of sleep and i'm still tired

was very tired last night and was in bed by 1030pm not knowing that i actually forgot to set my phone alarm...and so this morning instead of being awoken by my phone, i was awoken by my dad's voice instead asking me if i needed to go work today...

i quickly looked at my phone and wooh...6.51am...washed and changed up and got a cab to get to work...made it to office with time to spare...thank goodness mum helped me pack my protein shake cus i missed my morning coffee+oats breakfast...

but surprisingly i wasnt hungry at all during the whole morning...instead i was feeling tired as usual...but my head started throbbing in the afternoon...the sleep on the bus back cleared up the headache abit...after changing up at delta, i eventually decided to skip gym and did some workout at home instead...

have been feeling rather low for the past week...nothing seems to be going right...

did feel abit better last sunday after buying my digicam...retail therapy! heh...my next session should be somewhere next week...MG strike freedom coming in!

so it's me myself and my toys...sigh

marathon day+2

legs are almost recovered...i could climb the stairs yesterday...and lifting up my legs to wear my pants is becoming less arduous...

went to gym today instead cus meeting up with choo, tang and guorong tmr for dinner...arms are abit sore now...which is good...

marathon photos are out...those stuff are like frigging expensive if you actually buy from them...
so i just got the preview thumbnail pics from the site...

oh my aching legs...

aftermath of marathon...aches aches and more aches...my knees were hurting so bad yesterday...

was contemplating of taking mc today but i woke up feeling slightly better...i even gave myself an excuse that if i cant catch the company bus in time i would skip work today (cus i was walking really slow this morning with the pain at my ITB--i read it's somewhere at the sides of the knees) BUT i made it with 1min to spare...

mum keep telling me to skip gym for this week...i was thinking maybe postpone tmr's session to wed...OR i just do some light workout at home tmr and go for thur's session...i think that'll be better since i'm taking a week off running...unless of course my legs recover by sunday...then i'll do some light run...

race results are out...i clocked 4:01:36 & 4:00:52 for gun/chip time respectively...came in 69/1181 in my division, 416/5909 in male category, 469/6745 in entire field...not too bad i guess...for a first timer...

adrian's 5th race...and what a painful one it was...

did quite alot of stuff for the first time today...
my first 42km run...my first massage...my first taste of powergel...my first taste of leg cramps...

a run through of events for the day...

woke up at 420am...had an egg+protein whey+3 bananas...took 2 dumps...did my stretching...applied some deep heat...and took a slow jog to the start point...on my way there i had to stop at a toilet to take another dump though...heh

i managed to squeeze into the front pack near the start point...so i didnt have to face human traffic jams thru out the race...which was good of course...i managed to clear the first 21km in about 1hr 40min...which again was good as i managed to improve from the ahm timing...

upon entering ECP...everything went downhill unfotunately...the ball of my left foot started to hurt...then my knees...then my left quad started to cramp...so painful it overtook the pain from the foot and knees...then came my right quad...then both quads...then my left calf...then my right calf...then all 4 cramped together...my first time experiencing such a kind pain in my legs...so painful i had to stop and walk...thank goodness got pple supplying deep heat along the way...i took a total of 2 squeezes...once at ecp and another time at national stadium...but the pain bugged me on and off all the way till nearing the finishing stretch...

the powergel were...hmm...how to say...well you cant have it without water thats for sure...but it did help keep my hunger pang away so in a sense it did help i guess...

the cramps made the run very very unbearable...it made the 1km intervals all seem so damn far away...i had to slow down and walk at almost every water point from ecp onwards...of course giving up was never an option...it's just that my timing was affected with all the walking and seeing so many runners overtake me was so demoralising...i couldnt hit my target of 3.5hrs...and came in at 4:01:sthg sthg i think...lucky at the last stretch leading into city hall i got a burst of energy and ran pretty fast...

at certain stretches the cheers from the crowd were great morale boosters...i think i ran especially fast at the sheares bridge and at the last stretch all thanks to the cheers from the crowd...heh...

after the run and the collection of the medal and t-shirt and 2 cans of 100+, i queued up for the massage...and omg was it good or what...my first time having a massage too...and thank goodness 2 cute girls were doing the massage for me...hiakhiak...they did a very good job too!...especially when they dug into my legs using their fists...woho...hurt so much but so shiok...one of them ask me if i was ok anot as she found that my hamstring and ITV (dunno what's that though) were tight...and true enuf i havent stretched my hamstrings...

after the shiok massage i grabbed 2 bananas and a bottle of water and hobbled my way home...

so apart from that ordeal in ecp and all the muscle cramps...it felt pretty good to complete the race...at least i've done it once in my life...not exactly the best timing i hoped for as i'm pretty sure i could have done better...and weather was sooooo damn good too!!

hopefully i'll be much more better prepared next year...ooh...next year...hoho...next year then say ba...

"the five people you meet in heaven"

finally made a trip to the library and got myself some books to read...2 of them in fact...well actually 1...cus the dilbert comic doesnt exactly count...

guorong recommended me a few titles but only "the five people you meet in heaven" was not on loan...book is by this author called mitch albom...should be a good read...if not i still have dilbert to fall back on...hehe

tuas 2nd link run results are out...the 50th runner actually had a timing of 40.37...i kinda remember me coming in at 40.20+ leh...basket...pretty sore at not getting a medal....heh...oh well...better luck next yr...provided i'm able to maintain my timing of course...

destiny gundam kit is done...time for some READING!! but first let me watch this week's episode of survivor...hoho
