instant laosaification

dad brought home cartons of brownes drink and plentiful tubs of fresh & fruity yoghurt...
i had 1 carton of chilled mocha and 1/2 carton of choc...next thing you know all the stinko farts started...

farting continued till the point you know you need to control the fart release pressure to avoid making a brown spot on your undies...hurhur...

so it was off to the toilet and had quite a good detox session...all watery fartery chocolaty...wooooh

adrian's one happy camper..for the wkend

saturday at motherland...got to see ah yee again...but didnt chance to make any small talk...only got chance for work talk...while running today (1:01:29 holland v route) i decided i must summon all the balls i have and ask her out next wkend...hoho...if not i will procrastinate and procrastinate and end up never getting round to doing anything...

wonder if i'm doing things right anot...wonder if she's attached anot...wonder if she's free next wk anot...wonder if she's willing to go out with me anot...

picked up the following kits at tfh after work on saturday-Roy gave pretty good prices too!

very pleased with the 2 gundam purchases...not very pleased with the 0S though...the plastic was not molded in white!!-it came in vanilla-ish creamy white with a tinge of yellowing liddat...wth!! now i'll have to get a can of white spray paint-and i've never done any spray painting before...how la...basket...dont even know can panel line over the paint anot...dunno shld get matt or gloss also...argh...

finished my MG strike...snapped a few pics with my benq as the canon is broken...no autofocus mind you...

the wingspan of MG strike is WAY bigger then the normal 1/100 one...proportions are WAY better...my pics of course dont do any justice for the kit...
a must have for all strike fans...now abit gian to get the PG le...hohoho...

and then there were clear skies...part 3

went ahead with my wed run...completed tanglin route w/o slopes in 37.55...teenie weenie improvement...heh

pratt boss steve finger coming to TOS for a visit tmr...

friday is holiday in lieu...will be going to m'sian tourism board in the morning to register for the tuas 2nd link run...after that will be working at motherland...

plans for this wkend...start another gundam kit...run...maybe include a swim or wts at home..or maybe open up another tf...hohoho

Sunday, October 15, 2006

ooxxooXoXXx

boss kevin employed a new gal at motherland...her name's waiyee...and she's cute too haha...

hazy wkend meant no wkend runs...so i did wts at home instead...and watched a couple of shows..
first up was "nacho libre"...hilarious stuff...

watched "the family man" this afternoon...followed by jackass 2 in the evening which was another classic...hohoho

sword impulse's almost completed...gundam backlog gonna be down to 11...

Friday, October 13, 2006

and then there were clear skies...part 2

had to give wed's run a miss due to the lousy haze...but i made up for it just now with 3x2.4km intervals...9.48, 10.13, 10.21...quite pleased with myself for actually completing all 3 sets cus i was really really very very tired after the 1st set and given the state of fatigue i was in, i must say the timings arent that bad either...hohoho

attended this geometric dimensioning & tolerance course from wed-fri...in-house...fugz...was struggling to stay awake...tried various ways to keep make myself wake up...took those head face down naps of a few seconds hoping to become more awake once i wake up...ate sweets...went to the washroom to wash my face...tried lifting myself up on the chair with my arms while seated...and when all else failed today i tried clipping myself with the ring binder hoping that some pain will make me awake...

it's back to motherland tmr yay!!! the extra cash will come in handy no doubt...then i wont feel that bad for buying the upcoming gundam releases straight from tfh...hohoho...got MG strike w/ IWSP in oct...MG strike freedom (special edition) in dec...dunno shld just get 1/100 saviour from falcon as well or just wait...and my VF-0S also arriving soon...

just finished my lunamaria gunner zaku warrior...just started on sword impulse...my gundam backlog is now down to 12 kits...hohoho

Sunday, October 08, 2006

and then there were clear skies...

after 3 days of terrible haze, the sky finally cleared up...no haze...no smoky chao da smell...
and just abt time too! if today also haze i wldnt have been able to go for my sunday run...

did tanglin route with slopes in 43.47...run was quite lethargic run leh...timing also didnt improve...basket...and i've noticed my quads tire out very fast...

saturday couldnt work at motherland cus morning had to go for TOStrike-some bowling competition organised by TOS...my performance that day? plenty of drain-washing, a few spares, no strikes...score? 45-80sthg-99...by the end of the 2nd game i finally figured out how to throw in order not to longkang too many times...

i noticed how all my throws end up swaying to the right...so i just stood to the very left side and land my throws at the very left of the lane to offset the inevitable swaying to the right side...

cooped myself at home on friday night and saturday afternoon since the air outside was so lousy...started on my 1/100 gunner zaku warrior(lunamaria custom)...watched "the break up" which stars vince vaughn and jennifer aniston

not the usual lovey dovey romantic comedy with the usual expected happy ending...but i guess the moral of the movie or the msg it wanted to bring across (imho) is that no matter how solid a couple's relationship is, it's always nice to do sthg for your partner...sthg spontaneous...to show him/her how much u appreciate him/her..to say a simple thank you...to do stuff or go somewhere together with your partner even if it's sthg that is not of your interest...

like wat was mentioned in the movie--"you have to want to want to do the dishes"...you cannot "i want to do the dishes" only after being asked if you could help to do the dishes...sthg along that line la...

alot of give and take...there are no "I" or "me" ...only "we" and "us"

hazy haze

stayed for my very first official ot today...lucky Chow was able to help me get a cab slot...

reached gym feeling extremely sleepy cus i missed my usual 1hr sleep on the company bus...came out of gym and fwah...the haze was so visible and smell-able...

anyway here are the gathering photos...and guess what we made after the meal...

moving on

had a good chat with guorong last sunday night...always nice to have a buddy to rant your troubles to...

we had a farewell dinner for edwina last friday at seoul garden marina sq, before that we had a game of bowling...man i sucked big time...hurhur...apart from the tyco strike on my first throw, i think i washed plenty of drains after that...will post pictures of the gathering once i get them...

met up with loy, tang, hw, kishore and tok after that...they were lazing at venezia in the sg art museum...a guy and a gal (hohoho....and what a hot gal she is....haha) were playing a live acoustic set over there...they were pretty good too!

fast forward to yesterday's gym session...my favourite leg extension machine was broken...bumped into ah kim too...

today's run trng is back to 3x2.4km intervals...prepare for the tuas-2nd link run...9.57,10.28,10.25...

Sunday, October 01, 2006

everything's hunky dory again no?

slept early last night...woke up at 8 today and washed clothes, mopped floor...keeping myself busy kept my mind off unhappy stuff...

went to hougang to celebrate grandma's birthday, lunch was at this place called peng restaurant...got abit lost searching for it and had to call Roy for directions...the dishes were not too bad...the best was still the dessert--the ou ni paste was OMG...hohoho...superberlicious...but somehow the good stuff always come in small puny servings

reach home and went for my sunday run...pretty slow today...1:03:50 for holland v route...

saw the Singapore-Johor 2nd Link Bridge Run 2006 listing at the saa webby...12nov...10km for 10bucks...should be joining ba...

muscle development update...i have slowly increased the weights at gym and progress have been not too bad...measurements have increased bit by bit...increments are small but got improvement better than no improvement no? still looking very skinny though...weight is maintaining at 55...
plenty of room for plenty of improvement...gambatte adrian!

an immensely miserable feeling

what started off as a not too bad day took a turn for the worse in the late afternoon which then became nonsensically lousy during the evening...

was awoken by my considerate neighbour for the 2nd wkend straight at abt 7 with the blasting of the sermon again...was a little annoyed but at least i was abt to wake up for work le...

edwin still sleeping so he was well pissed, so after having my breakfast i thought i'd just pop by next door and tell her nicely to turn down the volume...i knocked but no answer...volume went down for a few minutes...then BOOOM-blasting resumed!!...hohoho...i was already awake and getting ready for work so it didnt really bother me...but edwin buay tahan and went next door to knock again...and i think this time she answered and lowered the volume...

work at motherland today was great...that feeling of knowing what to do, that feeling of being taken care of and looked after by boss kevin, yvonne and uncle tan...no matter how tired i am after 5 days at tos, it's always a joy to spend my saturdays at motherland...

then it all just went downhill after that...

that feeling of knowing that you're just not good enough is just downright depressing...to know that you are just part of the queue...and then try laughing it off by consoling yourself saying that your turn will come-you just have to be patient...

then in the evening edwin chosed a really bad time to tell mum abt this morning's incident and my parents just freaked out...for some reason all the pent up frustration against edwin from my parents just surfaced...everything he said didnt get through to them and everything just turned into a heated exchange of words...nothing came out right...everything just came out all wrong...

and it all started with a little bloody knock...wtf...

sprints!

feeling the strain from yesterday's gym...so i did 6x400m sprints instead today
1.23, 1.20, 1.22, 1.18, 1.26, 1.23 with 2.5min rest in between...after that did another 800m slow jog as warm down

upcoming events for the next few months...
grandma's birthday - lunch this sunday
TOS bowling competition next sat - i'll be going there to wash drains
GDT course - in-house course...nooooooooooooo
TOS D&D
dad's birthday - i'm planning to bring my parents out for a nice meal--any suggestions?

adrian's 2 day "vacation"

spent the past 2 days at holiday inn parkview hotel attending a iso14001+ohsas18001 internal auditor course...whole jasmine suite catered only for the 3 of us from TOS...hurhur

very very well fed during the course...hohoho...everyday they prepared 2 tea breaks and buffet lunch...hohohoho

and what did i learn from the course...
1. our plastic bags take 1000 yrs to disintegrate on its own
2. sg no longer uses landfills to dump its trash
3. statistics are like bikinis-what's revealed is suggestive, what's not revealed is vital
4. attending this course only qualifies me to be a "trained" internal auditor-not a competent internal auditor

it's back to tuas tmr le...haiz...for the first time in 3 mths i actually got to wake up on wkdays AFTER the sun is up AND i did not feel hungry THROUGHOUT the day...

out-house courses are fun!!!

Sunday, September 24, 2006

can someone teach adrian how to swim freestyle?

awoken by my thoughtful neighbour who was blasting a sermon recording at 6+ in the morning...

got out of bed by 7.05 to go for an early swim at delta...pool opens at 8 so i thought i'd go look see how's the morning crowd like...

reached abt 8.15 and i can see 2 swim classes going on at the small pool...a number of uncles and aunties at the big pool...

so apart from trying to siam the afternoon crowd...the main reason for today's swim was to find out whether i can do freestyle anot..and hopefully not too many pple will see me making a fool out of myself....hehe

basically i have a bad coordination problem...must kick continously-left arm pull-face down-breathe out thru nose-right arm lift-face turn right and breathe thru mouth-kick continuously...argh...

after awhile i began to drink water...lost my breath and started to kalang kaboh...so after barely a combined distance of not more than 50m of attempted "freestyle swimming" and changing to froggy in between when i cannot take it anymore...i decided to just swim froggy...did 4 sets of 4x50m and decided to call it a day...the swim classes moved over to the big pool le and the pool was pretty filled up le...and it was only 9!!

reached home, drank protein whey (new bottle opened!!! cookies and cream..yum yummmm-champion is definitely better than optimum)washed clothes, cleaned up the shelf in the bathroom (the amount of dust collected there was amazing)...

did some wts, crunches, chinups, pushups...then went for short run...did tanglin route w/o slopes in 38.09...

going grocery shopping later...gonna continue my NG 1/144 m1 astray kit now...i cant believe it doesnt have any elbow and knee joints!...basket...the gundam wing series's NG 1/144 had lor...

ohoh and i preordered an MG 1/100 strike gundam w/ IWSP!!! akan datang in oct...woohoo

做工一条虫, 跑步就一条龙

i have succumbed to the fact that i can never get enough sleep on working days...

if i sleep earlier, it means i'll have less "personal" time...it'll make me feel like i havent done much for 1 day...work liao come back for awhile then sleep le...

so from 0530 till 1550 mon-fri i'm pretty much half awake...0600-0700 and 1600-1700 i'll be knocked out on the company bus...

then on run trng days i'll somehow be able to muster whatever 精神 i have left and become very awake for my runs...

today clocked 9.48, 10.32, 10.27...2nd set was quite a torture...quads were so tight and i could feel sthg wrapped around my heart/lungs area...must be that icky sticky piece of carrot cake i wolfed down just before the run doing some nonsense inside my system....

on the whole i just dont feel sick and tired of runs no matter how torturous they can become sometimes...but somehow i just cant say the same for work hor...haha

that plateau feeling

seems like ages since i've bought any new toys...
muscle development is crawling...
still looking very scrawny...
weight is persistently hovering at 53-54-55...
seems like whey and gym and creatine isnt gonna do any miracles any time soon...
problem lies with diet maybe? not enough meat intake? the only meat i seem to be getting these days is the small pathetic serving during lunch from the mixed vege stall...
woke up in the middle of the night with a growling stomach for the upteenth time this week...
and i cant even get rid of it with the usual gulp of water...
no choice but to get out of bed to pinch sthg from the fridge...
precious sleep is again affected...
tanglin route with slopes today-42.51
still have a mountain load of stuff to learn at work...
under-qualified "engineer"...this also dunno that also dunno...
that feeling of not being in control is just crappy

Saturday, September 16, 2006

accumulated lack of sleep is a bad thing

so tired...even though today woke up at 730...also so tired...

was quite busy at motherland today cus yvonne was on mc...boss kevin said he was feeling happy and ordered canadian 2for1 pizza...hurhur...

made a quick trip to rl to grab muay's singlet for size exchange at queensway...lucky never rain when i was walking home from queensway cus sky was sooooooo black...

came back pooped and pampered myself with a 2 hr nap...

longest nap i've taken in donkey months i think

walk walking walked

slept before 11 last night...still woke up sooooooooo tired this morning
even napped twice after gym yesterday...once while i was doing my crunches (yes i fell asleep while lying on the floor in between sets) and another time at ard 9.45...

the company bus broke down on the way home today...was stuck near nus that area for abt 30min before the remaining pple who were still left on the bus decided to share cabs...8 of us so 2 cabs just nice...

i dropped at queensway to pick up muay's reward...then plugged in my h10 and walked home...45min walk...but got music so it's pretty ok...

by the time i reached home i was famished...luckily dad's friend alicia dropped by with some delectable munchies...after dinner i popped by queenstown pool to pass muay her reward..so it was another 2 sets of walking....hohoho...walk there walk back....with my h10 of course...

origami bird thingys

woke up today feeling soooooooooooooo tired...
woke up from the 2 sleeps on the company bus feeling soooooooooo tired...

interval timings for this evening 10.05, 10.57, 10.05... was so shaq and demoralised during and after the 2nd set...but i think the 5min rest helped and i told myself to just finish up the last set in sub11...

after that stairs climb...no broad jumps and tugjumps cus i did them before the run...reached home and had 2 refreshing mugs of h2o and whey...bathed and had tau suan which mum prepared...shiok

then mum taught me how to make those origami bird thingys...
this was what i made and i taught her how to use the digicam and this pic was taken by her

so conclusion of yesterdays and today's photo taking--at night cannot take photo at home...use flash the pics come out overexposed...dont use flash the pics come out dark dark

Monday, September 11, 2006

my blue suede shoes

decided to forgo the NB classics and got myself a pair of adidas instead

ok the color's way off in this pic...low batt in digicam actually causes such problems...hmm...
well the shoe's supposed to look blue anyway...

chaos gundam...completed last week...

Sunday, September 10, 2006

another wkend just flew by...

almost half a saturday spent at motherland...at night had a small gathering with my lsc frens over a sakura buffet dinner...

sunday morning washed clothes and mopped the floor...did abit of stuff i brought home from work...only did a little bit before i got tired and decided to take a nap...wanted to go for run when i woke up but it rained...so i napped somemore...woke up and the sun was up...just nice

completed holland v route in 1hr 26s...stairs...reached home had a h2o and choc whey, bathed and went to meet guorong to collect my policy...

we had a nice long chat and updated each other on what's been happening in our lives lately...after that jalaned abit at suntec and raffles city...

the NB concept stores didnt carry the design i wanted...but i did see a not too bad pair of sneakers from adidas though...cheaper than the NB classics and i think the soles can last longer too...

dropped by cold storage to get some groceries and after that had quite a miserable dinner (as compared to the feast i had at sakura--hohoho) eggs+veges+rice...

so there...another wkend gone...and it's back to work again tmr...haiz

Wednesday, September 06, 2006

drool drooling drooled

totally knocked out on the bus home today...so knocked out that i drooled all over myself...

i was awoken by my subconscious mind telling me that my drool was dripping dripping and i suddenly woke up--slurped up the dripping saliva--wiped my mouth...then i went back to sleep...hohoho...

when i got off the bus i noticed a wet patch on my shirt...hohoho...no need to guess where that came from...

decided to do intervals today...run was pretty good...i managed to push myself to finish all 3 sets properly with timings of 9.50, 10.07, 10.07...after that was stairs...broadjumps and tugjumps...

have been pondering on which shoes to get to replace my converse which already has a gaping hole at the soles...so i made a trip down to queensway to recce the NB classics sneakers i've been eyeing...

but to my disppointment, none of the shops carried the exact same model designs i found thru the NB sites...price was a little pricey too imo...129 retail price...kaoz...supposing they give 30% discount its still 90 over bucks...more ex than my sauconys...how can liddat...

so anyway maybe i'll drop by the NB concept store to see what other models they have and ponder...if i'm going to get a pair of pricey sneakers i jolly well get a pair which i like

"我能给的却又不是你想要拥有的..."

absolutely frigging mesmerised by 李圣杰's 最近...i totally feel for the song man...haha... haiz...

so anyway i slept early last night and woke up at 9 today...have been waking up early everyday for the past 2 consecutive weeks so i thought i better get some proper sleep replenishment and that meant no alarm clocks...

unfortunately i was awoken in the middle of the night-twice by my growling stomach and another time by mozzie bites-fugz...

did the holland V route in the afternoon today...struggled with left knee pain and heavy legs...finished the run in 1:04:07...

started on my chaos gundam kit in the evening...wkend just flashed right by...sipei fast sia...haiz...

Saturday, September 02, 2006

shit run under the sun

havent been doing any fun run under sun for quite awhile...today's attempt was quite shitty

for starters i didnt hydrate myself enough before the run...i pulled my left butt muscles after doing my broad and tug jumps before the run...my legs felt very very heavy during the run...and i was feeling somewhat pretty unmotivated...so despite leaving out the slopes today, i took 42.38 to complete the tanglin route...

so excuses aside...tmr i will attempt to complete the holland V route if the weather permits...have to start clocking mileage for stan chart le...

last night weiming, shirong, yongliang, jeffrey and i had a short gathering to celebrate jeff's belated bday...we had dinner at this indian restaurant called "the banana leaf apolo"...it was packed and we had to queue to get seats...

we had fish head curry, masala prawns, tandoori chicken, gobi sthg sthg-a vege dish which tasted like carrot cake to me, mango lassi, free flow of indian keropok and the rice came with 2 side veges...

i liked the gobi vege dish alot...the fish head curry was great as well (while it was hot of course)...we wondered why our "large" fish head curry order was the same size as the "small" ordered by the indian uncle who sat beside us...hurhur...good thing was we were only charged for 1 glass of mango lassi (which tasted great but cost $4)...so i think it balanced out...hohoho

after a fulfilling dinner we went to kim seng bowl...the guys played number ball while i sat at the side to watch...was so tired that i fell asleep at the table...heh...

so i went home first at 12+...washed my face, brushed teeth, changed and went straight to bed without bathing...heh...then today 730 wake up to go motherland work...

Thursday, August 31, 2006

tropical sunrise protein whey + fresh milk = heavenly heaven

tropical sunrise is even better than banana and chocolate...my goodness

ahm results are out...my timing would have earned me a 110+th placing if i used the 1hr45min i agar for myself with all the traffic stoppages...a 130+th placing if i used my watch's 1hr47min...a 202+th placing if i follow the official clock time...hohohoho

Monday, August 28, 2006

i came in 52nd!!!

real run results are out...i came in 52nd..with official timing of 43.15(net time) and 43.53(total time)...no idea why got 2 timings though

Sunday, August 27, 2006

adrian's 3rd "race"!!

so i gate-crashed today's ahm...and guess what i got at the finishing pt...
apparently the guy handing out the medals didnt notice i was missing a number tag...hohoho...

suuuuuuuuuuuuuuper crowded at the start pt today...by the time i reached there i was way at the back with the non-competitive 21km group...the competitive one was flagged off earlier...there was no way i could squeeze to the front...

even after the non-comp. 21 was flagged off, i had to walk like a few min before i even passed the start point...it was THAT packed...and after that there was no way of running fast fast with all the human traffic...everyone was at crawling speed...i had to zig zag here and there to negotiate my way pass other runners...

left knee was abit painful today...but still bearable...got hungry after leaving east coast park...ohoh...the funniest thing today shld be how some of the runners just ran straight to the huge longkang at the side once entering ecp and started to pee...i was also one of those pee-ers...hehe...high tide...

so apart from the human traffic...there was also the car traffic...there were many junctions where the traffic police had to stop us to let the cars move...i think i was stopped about 5 times...

so anyway the official timing was 1hr 51min...my watch read 1hr 47min...but with all the numerous stops and slow crawl at the beginning i would say i can take 5min off my watch timing no? haha...

but all in all i was very pleased with my run today...i actually ran non-stop!! when i did ahm during my army days i think i stopped dunno how many times...still, today's run was veeerrryy tiring...i can just imagine how 42km will feel like...

woopie

what a long week...sigh

this whole work week was longer than usual all thanks to the procert course......i gave my 1st presentation at TOS during the close out of our course today...my group was lucky to be the last few teams presenting...all the qns from the floor were pretty much exhausted after the first few presentations...

so i got lucky...no need to answer any daunting qns...hoho

my leave application got rejected...my boss reasoned that his policy is non-confirmed employees not allowed to take leave...otherwise how to gauge my performance for confirmation he added...

that remark got me worried all over again...i havent exactly been accomplishing much at work recently...always waiting for parts to measure...waiting for pple to be ard...waiting for answers...searching for answers...answers which are always never there when i need them...measurement and experiment outcomes always not happening the way i want them to happen...kaoz...

all the assignments are like always left hanging in mid-air...dont exactly want to give my supe and boss the impression that i havent been pulling my weight at work...but at the rate things are going-it just doesnt paint a very pretty picture...

so no more kota kinabalu trip for me...now more worried abt getting my confirmation which is tentatively due on oct3rd...

anyway...here are more pics of my force impulse (as requested by Rin) and gouf ignited which i fixed up last week...gouf's shield havent been painted yet though...which brings to mind how annoying it is to paint my kits nowadays with my current bottles of gunze sangyo...almost all spoiled after t-loaning them out to my fren...need to replenish with red, field grey, grey, yellow...

wat a psyched up run!

for some reason i was very psyched up during this evening's run(despite having to start quite late)...i guess having set myself a base timing for my last tanglin route run i wanted to see how much i improved...

today's timing-42.44...only a little bit faster only...haha...shite...for a moment there (during the run) i really thought i could shave off a min or 2...oh well...any form of improvement is good no? adrian will do better next wk!

muay asked me today if i wanted to join her and her friends to go climb mt kinabalu in oct...rather keen on going cus i want to go on a holiday real bad (even though muay said it wld be a shiong "holiday" hehe)

hope my leave application goes through though...cus it's about time this frog left it's well!!hohoho

Sunday, August 20, 2006

adrian's 2nd race!!

woke up at 6.05 today...had coffee+oats+1egg...took 2 dumps...stretched and took a slow warm up run to outram mrt...met up with tang and choo before making our way to sentosa...

SUPER crowded...good thing abt it was got lotsa sporty chicks around to beo...hohoho...bad thing was we were waaaayyyyy at the back when waiting for the race to start...

i shaved off 2 min to get to the checkpt before the sand part...was quite happy...BUT the damn sand was a killer today...all the way soft...even at the parts when the seawater washed up...legs were so damn tired after the sand route...

my watch read 43.15 at the finish...the official timing was abt 42++i think...anyway the timing will be printed on the cert...

gulped down 3 cans of 100+ before we left...hoho...

good run on the whole...was pretty tired but at least timing improved a little from the trng run 2 sundays ago...looks like the interval trng did pay off a little...shite...if only i did and completed the intervals properly...could have been slightly better no?

will be crashing next sunday's ahm...heh...let's see how 21km feels like after a break of 5yrs

Saturday, August 19, 2006

saturdays at motherland

boss kevin asked whether i wanted to work on saturdays...i thought why not since i'm free anyway...

so it was 8.15-3.30 downstairs today...some extra pocket money for me!! hohoho...next wk might be sent to brandon's (boss kevin's younger brother) place to set up some internet security camera (which i totally forgot how to setup le...hmmm)

muscle development has been slow...the only improvement i see is the 0.5kg gain in weight and the 0.5cm gain the bicep+tricep measurement...

creatine hasnt worked its wonders...yet...

honeymoon period at tos is all but over...attending quite a wayang course now...next friday got a wayang presentation and my group has practically done nothing...project had to be changed because of the lack of parts for doing gage R&R...so the all the stuff we did this wk was perfectly wasted...i'm the ASSIGNED group leader somemore...woopie

last training run before NB real run

did tanglin route with slopes in a complete loop using the alexandra park connector in 43.06...knee good...breathing good...maybe can take this as a base timing to improve on...

next wk's trng most likely gonna be affected by the procert course at work...next wk's my group's turn to take the afternoon session...crap...end at 5...then have to stay back till 5.50 to claim the taxi pool...dunno still got 精神 to go gym anot...will miss my precious sleep on the return bus too...wakao...

fishies and robots...

lousy photography skills+shaky hands+murky water+fishies moving at high speeds=the photos i took below

these 2 photos show the successful spawning of young fishies engineered by dad...there are abt 10 of them...some of them too small to be seen in the photo...the pic on the right is just for size comparisons...the big fish on the top right hand corner is the mummy fish and the small orangey blurs are the young fishes

the next 2 photos show fishes with artsy patterns on themselves...the 4 of them actually have grown quite abit...they also have a neighbour (mum says its an oscar fish) which has grown in size significantly in the same tank...but he refuses to have its picture taken by me (he keeps hiding behind the pump when i aim the camera at him-he is blackish in colour with shiny orangey patterns all over)

next is the force impulse gundam which i just completed yesterday
and last pic is nemesis prime which i opened up a few days ago to amuse myself with

running with a running nose

kenna abit of the flu yesterday...was contemplating whether to go run today anot...

wait wait wait until abt 1+ then decided to go run...see much i can accomplish with a running nose...

9.49, 10.48....and thats it...hurhur...couldnt finish the 3rd set...

napped a very solid 30min...then met up with tang to collect the real run race pack...was very tempted to get the NB merchandise on sale there...(dri-fit Ts were going for only $20!!)...but this month already spent alot on supplements so i decided against anymore unnecessary expenditure...

after that met up with muay to collect her race pack...shared some sushi and then went home...

napped again after reaching home...was so tired and kept yawning...

*yawn* think i'll sleep early tonight...

nothing beats a good run...

FINALLY...finally completed a full set of 3x2.4 interval properly...ever since wave run the intervals havent been very well done at all...felt so tired but so damn pleased with myself after finishing today's sets...

borrowed muay's extra hrm so i brought it out to test test today too...heart rate averaged abt 178...took abt a min in all sets to get within the in-zone level...
...today's timings 10.00, 10.23, 10.26 with ample rest in between to allow my heart rate to drop to a relatively low level (i thought it would have taken too long to wait for heart rate to drop all the way to normal resting rate)

quite an interesting gadget...might even consider getting one for myself no? hoho...another thing on my want list...chaaam...

feeling much better today after a crabby yesterday...well rested-i slept and napped and napped and slept...opened up a tf alternators nemesis prime to amuse myself...started fixing up force impulse gundam just now...

gonna start recording all my trng to monitor my progress for both runs and gym...took some measurements to check my muscle development on monday...like no improvement leh...haiz...
gonna get creatine from tsw and try to see if it helps...

just one of those days...

despite sleeping early last night, i still woke up feeling groggy...not as much as the day before or last week...but still groggy...and as always looked forward to the sleep on the bus to work...

while preparing my breakfast i remembered i was supposed to bring along a hard boiled egg as it was gym day...so i put an egg in a mug of water and let it spin in the microwave oven...i kept watch over it in case it exploded or the water boiled over...

so at the end of 1min the buzzer went off...just when i thought i was going to have my egg ready...BOOOM!!

the egg exploded inside the oven...eggish water sprayed all over the inside of the oven with the mug toppled over...sigh...

so i had to quickly finish up my coffee+oats and clean up whatever mess i could...then i had to rush down to tiong bahru so as not to miss the bus...

a great way to start the morning...

after work today the bus driver took another route cus the usual driver wasnt driving today...so i had to walk a longer distance to gym...i got to walk over that mini bridge at tiong bahru park and i was thinking abt the interesting horoscope article i read last night...

i wasnt looking where my feet were landing and next thing i knew after turning the corner after the darn bridge...sthg caught my feet and i tumbled over...

and guess wat was the thing that tripped me...a roll of those wire mesh which we put over bbq pits....sigh....

so zun man...walk directly into a roll of wire mesh so nicely until it get caught on my jeans and wrap around my legs to make me fall when i walked...wooooh

got up, pulled off the wire mesh and threw it at the corner of a wall-checked my timex got kenna scratched anot (lucky dun have)-the bottom of my palms were bleeding...lucky not very badly scratched...quickly made my way to the sports hall toilet so i could wash off the blood and dirt...

while changing i checked my other bruises...orh cheh+scratches on my left knee and hip...scratches on my right shin(all thanks to the wire mesh)...

the orh cheh on my knee quite painful...couldnt even do leg extensions at the gym...sigh...

made me feel so crabby...fugz

gonna open up a transformer/gundam kit tmr...or maybe i'll just do both...i need some happy things!!

NB real run: training run

attended the training run at sentosa this morning with isabel...i thought it would make a good route familiarization run and at the same time make up for some mileage training which i havent been able to do recently...

run was good...took me 44.25 to complete...my left knee wasnt as painful as what happened at wave run...my quads held up pretty well...breathing and pace was good...overall felt pretty satisfied after the run...

oh ya...my first experience running on sand...how to describe leh...energy sapping? but it most definitely slows you down quite abit...especially the soft portion when we enter from the road to the seaside...then from the seaside out to the road...the sand path has slight slope somemore...but luckily only 1.6km of the run is sand....heng ah

the organisers even provided 100+ and some fruity energy drink at the finishing point which i thought was very nice of them...training run somemore...

when i reached home i had by far the WORST protein drink i've prepared for myself so far...
whey powder+milk powder+very hot water=SUPER huge clumpy masses everywhere
and after stiring and pressing the clumps against the side of the mug, i was left with oat-ish kind of floating things...warao...almost puked when i was forcing down all the oat-ish things...definitely not the way i want to enjoy my protein whey lor...basket...looks like i'm gonna have to buy fresh milk on a weekly basis liao

been finding it tough to make myself complete the 3x2.4 intervals recently...quads tired la...getting sian with the riverside path la...all the lousy excuses mostly-haha...anyway yesterday only did 2x2.4 with a longer rest in between...muay informed me that we should allow ourselves to rest until normal heart rate before starting a new set otherwise it would defeat the purpose of interval trng...

so yesterday did 10.09-rest 3.5min-10.29...couldnt push myself for another set so the excuse i gave myself was that i going for trng run today...heh

sleep replenishment needed

yesterday afternoon xiaoyi and uncle jason picked me up from tos to go nus help sign the surety thingy...after that dropped by ikea for snack/lunch (i had 3 .5 chicky wings..*slurp*)...then they sent me to gym...

although got an afternoon off work and had one of those rare days in which i was well fed with chicken...i so-called missed a session of the "sleep back home on the company bus"...

kept yawning in gym in between my sets...went home i fell asleep on the floor while doing crunches...

woke up damn groggy this morning...was so looking forward to the sleep on the morning bus to work that i forgot to bring my mobile out...

yawn yawning yawned whole day at office...was so looking forward to the sleep on the bus home from work...

decided to take a break from the 3x2.4 intervals today...ran the tanglin route with slopes which took me abt 35min...

*yawn*

"i love you past infinity"

overheard this conversation between a dad and his kid daughter on the shuttle bus to orchard(they are an ang mor family by the way)
dad: i love you to infinity
daughter: i love you past infinity
dad: woah...that's alot...

anyways my flooble tagboard seems to be having some problems...i cant post anything...nothing pops up even after all the refreshing of the tagboard and all the ctrl+F5 i've been pressing...basket...

punctured only after 1 set...basket...

weather was great when i went for my noon jog...BUT out of the 3 sets of 2.4 intervals i could only complete 2

1st set 9.57 then rest 1.5min...quite worn out liao...half way thru 2nd set totally pooped...finished it in 10.44...kaoz...

after that did a slow 600m warm down jog and even tried running backwards for 200m...hoho...

looks like i cant fit 3 run sessions with the 2 gym sessions within a wk for the time being...gonna have to buck up...

lost...bothered...annoyed...hungry...looking forward to real run!!!

just signed up for NB real run...so it's back to 2.4 intervals...tried to up my standard today
10.02, 10.17, 10.19 with 1.5min rest in between...so not too bad i guess...quads were very suan only after the 1st set...feeling the strain of yesterday's squat machine at the gym...

feeling quite bothered and somewhat annoyed by the insurance thingy...coupled with the lostness situation i'm still in at work...argh...

but what i've learnt from the listening to the agents is that there is no single best plan out there...different company's products each have their pros and cons...it's up to you to see which one suits you better...

still very much in the state of lostness at work...think i might even be doing less work as compared to the IA students...two of them handed in an op sketch today and i only completed a bloody cactus request today...basket...

our manager Na told us in today's dept meeting that he will be dropping by our cubicles anytime to ask us questions on our products...questions which are supposed to keep us on our toes and make us champions of our own products...woopie...then there is also the setting of 3 specific tasks which we have to complete within a time period...woohoo

interval between feeling hungry has shortened for me recently...been bringing bread to munch in office so mornings still not too bad...now its the period after lunch till going home...so from growling tummy in the mornings change to growling tummy in the late afternoons...sigh...

my very first race!!!

woke up at 6 today...sleepy eyed(cause we slept at 1230)...spent the night at tang's place so no need to rush down to the race this morning...tang's mum made us a cup of horlicks and 2 hard boiled eggs each...took a dump...after which we made our way down to kovan hub by bus to meet up with the rest of the guys(david, choo, delong, mingjun, keqin )...

there were sooooooooo many pple and i have never seen so many pretty sporty gals gathered at 1 single area before....hohohoho~nose bleed~

anyways we registered...filled in lucky draw forms...wanted to pee but toilet queue was too darn long-they only had 2 portable loos...so nvm...we did some warm-up and went to start pt to wait for flag off...

run was pretty good...not breathless at all...pace was very comfy...only problem came from my legs-quads were feeling the strain of thur's gym session+my left knee started to hurt after the 2.5 mark...forgot to take note of the official time at the finishing pt...but according to my casio, i clocked 42:07

me tang and choo even queued to sign up for the free 3yr mizuno membership card...dunno why also...haha...only 15% off regular items which is quite meagre imo...

went back to tang's place to wash up and we met up with choo to have lunch at serangoon garden-we had hokkien mee and we shared a plate of orh lua-yumz...we also saw fandi ahmad and his family there...

reached home...had my milo+protein whey...head abit pain so i slept until muay msged for her chocs redemption...we shared 2 slabs of ritter sports and a ft long sandwich from subway...tummy was very satisfied....hohoho

went to cold storage to find dad and bought the bread+granola bars so i can munch at office to help me tide over the hunger pangs before lunch...

pretty good wk i must say...muscle development quest started...completed my first race...next race shld be new balance real run...yay!!

gym, run, protein whey--adrian wants to grow muscles-hohoho

adrian's latest endeavour-growing muscles!!

protein whey arrived on monday evening...plan to have abt 2 servings per day...1 in the morning and 1 after gym/runs---so at least the barrel can last me at least over a month...

went to gym after work yesterday...quite crowded when i reached at 5.23 le...spent abt and hour there...going there again tmr...plan to go at least twice a week...and maybe have another mini session at home...

runs will still continue...still hope to squeeze in at least 3 sessions per wk--1 for sprints/intervals, 2 for mid/long distance....

did another 3 x 2.4km interval today to prepare for sunday's race...not too bad despite the aching butt/quad muscles...10.19, 10.29, 10.22 with 2min rest in between

collected my gregory nano from fall factor today...was very happy when desmond called to say that my nano has arrived...happy and satisfied when i had it in my hand....beeming with joy when i finally got to admire it after my run...and....haha...and then~doh~

turns out the bag is a tad bit too small to my liking...i started packing my things in and it could only hold that much an amount...began to regret that i did not take up desmond's offer for the kyro...haha...darn...

but overall still ok la...if just for going to work and i not carrying extra stuff the space is just nice...if put shoes and some clothes will have to SQUEEEZE abit...i will find out how squeezy it is during tmr's gym....

well i guess i learnt a lesson abt buying things without having seen/handled the real thing...looking at the catalogue with stats is definitely not enough...

but at least now i know how much space a 17L bag has...no doubt being limited in storage capacity, i still like the design of my nano...

so my first bag splurge didnt go quite as planned...time to save up for a BIGGER bag then...

how about another gregory????hohoho....

the brilliant weather beckons...

rained for abit this morning so i thought today most likely wont run...and anyway i was planning to start a brand new trng outlook next wk when the whey arrives...

but then the sun came out REALLLY sunshiny if you know what i mean ...it was too irresistable...sigh...so running attire on...another 3 x 2.4km interval....hoho

decided to go slower today...but with shorter rest breaks...
11.26, 11.19, 11.11 with 2min rest in between...

stairs...home...had pocari sweat...bathed(damn shiok the water)...having oats with an egg inside now...

i cant wait for next wk!!

Saturday, July 15, 2006

new 3 x 2.4km intervals

tried out a new interval trng at noon today...
initial target was to complete each set within 15min...

but i thought maybe be a little more ambitious abit and put it at 11min...hoho

10.11, 10.56, 10.50 with 3min rest in between...nearing the end of 2nd set was pondering of changing to 12min per set liao...but lucky was able to clear them...barely...and after run was the usual stairs...

next wk's going to be fun...protein whey coming in...with it hopefully can finally kick start some gym sessions...sat macritie run with muay and dw....sunday mizuno wave run...

adrian's muscle gaining quest is about to begin...let's all pray for some consistency+determination+self discipline so that adrian can keep on going till he achieves his goal...

irritate, irritating, irritated

edwin has been stepping up his "irritate adrian" efforts...esp after i bought home the ramly burgers last wk...

as usual...he makes it a point to tell me why he is doing what he is doin--and that is to make me pissed and see if i will flip...

how nice of him isnt it...

insurance insurance insurance

been meeting up with agents for the past few days after work to hear more abt the policies they offer...so end up reaching home late and having dinner late...

today went ntuc income...after that went home...went for run...took the old jiak hong chu route complete with slopes...clocked 33:50min...stairs...bathed...dinner...run was good...but abit sian cus sun set le...everywhere orh soh soh...i prefer running in the day...with blaring sun even better..hohoho

still achieving nothing much at work...self learning is tough...my colleague gave me some repair guidelines which he got when he first started...tried it out this afternoon...i hope it helps me learn better though...wkends almost here...2nd wk at tos almost over...

一分钱,一分货

last night muay shared with me her views on buying certain stuff cus i asked her opinion on the type of deuter bag i was looking for...

it has always been imbued in me that why get sthg ex when sthg similar+serves the same function+cheaper will suffice?

well it is true that there are certain things which we dont necessarily need to get the better and pricier one (for example handphones...but then again it's really up to the individual) but after looking at what muay msned me-i guess there are stuff which we can really consider getting sthg that is of better quality+last longer...and these product attributes will of course come at a price...

no doubt i'll feel very heart pain splurging on an expensive item but WHAT if the item is so good and lasting that we might not need to get another of such an item ever again? ~well maybe not "ever again" but maybe for many many years at least...

so instead of keep on buying relatively cheaper items and compromise abit on the quality and replace them once they wear out...maybe we can spend 1 shot on a durable and decent product...BUT of course we make sure its sthg we need and as much as possible make the purchase count~so we dont end up buying ANOTHER new one just a few mths down the road making it TWO expensive purchases

the target is to make ONE...ONE expensive purchase for a particular product...

so after some thinking...i have listed some products which i myself qualify for those ONE time splurges...
-backpack
-sandals/slippers
-running shoes
-sports apparel

ooh...come to think of it the target of ONE for some of the items i listed above may not be realistic...i own 2 sauconys le so that category i fail...heh...

kk...maybe i set primary target of ONE...but secondary target of TWO then...hoho....and the 2nd splurge purchase cannot be too close to the first one then...hoho...

so anyway i made my way to fall factor after work today to have a look at gregory nano...no stock so i ordered one for myself...1st splurge purchase on a backpack for myself...to further console myself-i can say that the number of years i have not bought a new bag will more than make up for the price tag of nano...heh

next splurge purchase will be a pair of chaco sandals...that one not an urgent item so it falls into my "save up to get" list...

shit...with the nano purchase...the monthly limit of personal spending i set for myself is almost reached...and i havent bought the protein whey yet...

sprints for the evening-1.24,1.24,1.25,1.26,1.27,1.24

toys of yesteryears:episode 2

just finished washing clothes and waiting for breakfast to digest before my jog...feeling quite eng in the mean time so decided to do up episode2 for my toys of yesteryears series since i havent been doing any posts on toys also...

today i will touch on THE TRANSFORMERS...the #1 toy on my wishlist during my 1st childhood (it's sharing top spot with gundam for my 2nd childhood now)

a little brief history before i delve more into their toys
transformers(tf) started way back in 1984...it originated from a line of transforming robot toys by takara called DIACLONE from japan...then the angmors took the idea and made it into a cartoon series and hasbro also got the license from takara to produce the toys under the tf name...

basically for the cartoon, tfs are grouped into 2 factions-autobots & decepticons (in japan they are called cybertrons & destrons instead)...storyline revolves around the heroic autobots vs. the evil decepticons...

and now for the toys...
those 1st generation toys were called G1 toys and are considered vintage now...
-if any of you have any loose ones lying around-they are worth quite abit of money
-if yours still has its original box with the styrofoam inside-they are worth lotsa money
-if yours is still MINT in its original box (w/ styrofoam)-they are worth ALOT of money~especially those rarer characters

of course the value of your vintage G1s still depends on the toy/box condition(they have a grade scale which goes from C1-C10, C10 being the best), whether the toy is complete, how rare they are, have they been reissued in recent years...stuff like that...

now we move on to the G1 toy itself...they are also known as G1 BRICKS...huge chunks of plastics(and sometimes with diecast parts) with super-limited amount of poseability/joint articulation...most of them were not anime-correct(meaning they dont look like their characters in the cartoon)...some of their robot design/transformation were not very impressive at all

one commendable thing abt G1 toys is that their alternate modes looks really really good...i think the tf toy engineers back then designed the robot mode to suit the alternate mode...so i guess the robot mode suffered at the expense of the alternate modes~they were called "robots in disguise" so i guess they had to work along those lines too...

the next few pics are quite self explanatory regarding the brickness of G1 toys (just take note on the lack of proper neck, knee, arm, wrist, leg joints here and there) ~ and yes i am using my miniscule G1 collection as photo exhibits (techinically i only own 3 of them-2 of them belongs to edwin)

and just to point out the green robot (devastator) is a bootleg (meaning its a fake tf which looks almost like the real thing)...its supposed to cost real cheap and some of these china bootlegs that have surfaced are pretty well copied...

another thing about devastator is that its a gestalt(combiner robot)...these combiners can come in denominations of 3,4,5,6....so for devastator here its a 6-in-1 combiner as you can see there are 6 individual construction vehicles...

there are also other types of G1 toys-6 changers, headmasters, targetmasters...(all of which i dont own)...alot alot la...

maybe i will show some pics of tf toys past and present in the next episode to show how tf toy engineering has improved over the years be it design/transformation/poseability/joint articualtion...

basket...its pouring outside now...how to run...
going to grandma's place for dinner later too...FEAST!!!woohoooo!!!

insurance...protein whey...hmm...

been doing some research on both items to see which is suited for me and of course value for money...

after research/listening to agents, the shortlisted items at the moment for insurance are:
-manulife life policy
-manulife critical illness rider
-manulife personal accident rider
-ntuc income incomeshield plan

as for the protein shake
-optimum nutrition 100% whey gold standard (choc flavour!!-i'm hoping to get the double rich choc one but it only comes in 10lbs pack)

as the protein shake cannot be seen as a miracle drink, i read up more on how else i can help myself gain muscle mass and treat the whey as a supplement (which of course is the CORRECT method)

gonna print out the stuff i found online...all the pointers given by "experts"....free weights with small reps...have to eat more...blahblah....will have to work out a plan and hopefully try to squeeze some of these activities in...
-crunches
-free weights at home
-gym
-protein shake schedule
-dips
-push ups
-chin ups
-my sprints and long dist runs
-proper rest and hydration
just to name a few...

the most impt thing abt this plan would be consistency...even the "experts" also pointed out
~i quote~
"The truth is, the hardest part any training routine is getting started. You've got to break your old habits and make new paths for yourself."

"
You can have the best diet, the best training schedule, join the best gym that has the best equipment, but without consistency it's all worthless."

"
You must find the determination and drive within yourself to consistently put one foot in front of the other and see this through. If not now, then when?"

and this one i thought was very motivating...heh...woooooh

"You never know what you can do, until you try to do more than you can." - Tony Blauer

oh ya...clocked 56min of fun run this afternoon...even ran down to OG orchard at night to check whether they still had stock for alternator nemesis prime...i wonder why i did not give them a call to ask instead...hmmm

sleep sleep sleep

after a few days of trying out reveille timings for work...i have reduced it from monday's 5.18 to today's 5.28...gonna reduce it even further if i find i can make it to tiong bahru in time for the tos bus...

at night have to sleep ard 1030 in order to wake up less grouchy...1130 sleep i will wake up feeling like crap+more grouchness

still kept nodding off at my desk though...i brought my "refresher" but not much help...went to toilet to wash my face...kept me awake for awhile only...and it's so darn cold at the office...even with my sweater on!! why do they like to blast the air con in offices??? are they training us to be eskimos or sthg???

sleep is topped up on the tos bus to work and on the way home...yesterday almost missed the stop on my way home...today nearly drooled all over myself...but drooling is good...means i was totally knocked out which means i was REALLY resting...

after work met up with a great eastern agent-tammie...wow...was she animated or wat...

wkends finally here!! woohooo

25 x 400m = 10km

really wanted to see how i fare in a 10km run so i made myself go through an uber boring 25x400m along the riverside after work today...took me 46:20 min...
wave run coming up in 2 wks...gonna put in more effort to train up...last wk's ict totally derailed my running routine and momentum...

if muay can wake up to the morning call this sat, macritchie run wld be on...but other than that i plan to do at least another two 10kms this wkend...

collected my pc today at work...so at least now my table not so empty...heh...DELL 17" lcd, pentium4 processor with xp os in those mini desktop cpu...yet to get my password and email though...dun think i can msn and surf in peace too...my cubicle position too conspicuous le...dammit...

kept nodding off while "reading" the huge P&W trng material manual...lucky today i was in "awake" phase when my boss just walked by and asked me how am i doing...

wkend's almost here le...

2nd day of work

managed to take the company bus to and fro from work (there were SIGNS on the bus today)...better save on transport fees while i can before i end up like those engineers who cant go home at 3.50...then i can at most take the morning bus...so go home take bus+train...that wld be abt $2+...1 wk abt $10+...1 mth $40+ just for work alone...

got to know more pple today-jimmy,edwina,cheah,rachel and zul...jimmy edwina are same batch as me from ntu-they've been there for a mth le...cheah has been there for a yr...rachel just joined not so long ago but did her ia there...zul just did his masters and also joined not too long ago...

collected my stationery today...my supe gave me some stuff to read...had a session with one of the managers together with zul and rachel...again tried my best to stay awake~esp the last portion...talk quite long man...10.20 to 11.45...goodness....

apart from that another zuo bo day...pc still not here...table still empty...i even made a list of wat things to bring to put in my cubicle...

looking forward to the wkends le...and today's only tues...

1st day of work

was awoken in the middle of the night by some 爆风雨...wind was so loud and i think it toppled quite a number of my neighbour's stuff along the corridor and i think the rain was pouring super heavily outside...pulled myself out of bed to closed the windows and plopped back to sleep...feeling abit of headache...think it's my lousy pillow causing my neck pain again which always couples into a headache

then later i woke up AGAIN...this time due to my grumbling stomach...got up and drank from my bottle...then plopped back down again...headache still there...

5.18..alarm went off...my head was throbbing with that shitty feeling like you dint even get a good nights sleep...got out of bed and for some reason both my shoulders ached like hell...

washed up and it was coffee+oats...changed up and WAKAO...i never felt such an intense pain before in my shoulders when i took off my t-shirt...amazing stuff there man...

when i got downstairs it was still drizzling and upon reaching the bus-stop at 5.40 i checked the signage...it said first bus for 16 and 195 were 6.30 and 6.15 respectively...the tos bus reaches at 6.11 at tiong bahru mrt...

so i had to make my way to tiong bahru on foot...reached there in 15min...waited for the tos bus...jemin from hr told me to look out for comfort buses with the TOS sign/bus number...

6.08 a comfort bus came by...no sign...no number...and after picking up 3 passengers...it zoomed off without waiting...so ok...i thought maybe not that one ba...waited somemore...got an infineon bus...got some other bus-not comfort one...6.15 another comfort bus came by...no sign...no number...i went to ask the driver if it was the TOS bus...he said no...

waited until 6.18 i gave up and mrt+bus+walk-in...reached hr dept just on time...

4 noobies(including me) started work today...1 QA manager, 2 QA engineers, 1 process & methods engineer (thats me)...wee chong from ntu is one of the 2 QA engineers...at least got someone i know...

so whole day of lessons started with jemin giving us a welcome to tos presentation in the hr meeting room...after which it was all the way at the mph...tried my best to stay awake...and when i almost nodded off to sleep i geh siao geh siao changed my movement at the last moment and end up reaching for my sigg in my bag on the floor...heh...that made me wake up...for awhile at least...

after lessons i was brought to my cubicle (its got my name written there-Adrian Teo)~hohoho
got my own phone...no pc yet...near the door...and along the main aisle...so darn conspicuous...basket...

3.40 my boss Mr Na showed up and had a short chat with me....3.48 i made my way of out of office to wait for coy bus after my neighbour warned me that the bus dun wait one and we must be there early...

3.58...buses came...no sign to tell which one was the tiong bahru bus...so again...i blur like shit...buses picked up passengers--vrooooooooooooommmmmmmmmmm...

then i standing there like a clown...another bus came...no sign watsoever...i asked an operator where the bus headed to...woodlands he said...basket...

so it was bus+train back home...tmr i will board the bus FIRST and ASK the bus drivers...

evening went for 6x400 sprints
1.25,1.25,1.21,1.27,1.21,1.27
stairs...5 broad jumps...15 tug jumps...reached home made myself a pocari sweat...hohoho...yummy....

day2 here i come!!

3 down...7 more to go

just came back from reservist...wasnt as bad as i thought...in fact it was quite alright to some extent...

was abit shell-shocked on the first day after looking at the time table they planned for us...the trng schedule was like a high key ict packed into a low key ict...and from the experience of the 1st 2 icts-i was expecting to undergo yet another shitty ict...

BUT this time round we were under the charge of 2WO Yap instead of uncle mikey...on the whole he did made things abit easier for us (as compared to mikey)...and maybe my expectations werent that high to start with anyway so yea...when expectations are low and some minor minor good things happen, it makes everything feel better i guess...sthg liddat la...

so anyway...just a summary of my so-called lowkey ict

day1
-orientation driving+sar21 familiarization
drawing out the vehicle and bii was a chore...it's like a waiting to rush and rushing to wait procedure...after that went for orientation driving, first lunch in camp was packed...after lunch it was the technical handling test of the sar21...

the day ended early...but i had trouble sleeping...i always liddat one...cannot sleep on 1st night of ict...its those anxiety things...the night before the 1st exam paper...the night before sch reopens...the night after booking in...

day2
-sar21 range+IV
reveille was damn early-530...then had to drive to nee soon camp range for the sar21 live firing...mundane drive at snail's pace....50km/h along the expressway was bloody crappy...so boring and sleep inducing that it even made changing lanes exciting...

after firing 3 mags of 4 rounds each...we did our IV...i poked tang and he poked me...both of us were not successful...heh...after self inflicting pain session was over...lunched...some ccac revsion with short naps littered here and there...then night shoot of 2 mags of 4 rounds...then long drive back to camp again...

day3
-platoon battle course
outfield day...drove to track 13 area...did all the drills and what nots on the lsvs...lucky no night nvg driving...that wld have sucked and i wld have fed even more mozzies...but not too bad la...din get that many mozzie bites in the jungle...killed 8 huge mozzies straight at 1 target...
engagement area...

day4
-utws fam on agl
spent the day in camp learning the utws thing+clean rifle+clean mg

day5
-agl live firing
drove to track 13 area again...this time to shoot agl using the utws...reach back camp to wash the lsvs and return wat we could return

day6
-ippt+out processing
chose not to take ippt cus i got gold liao...returned the lsvs...out pro at abt 1215...then lunched with my friends at bedok corner...got a ride home on lee yin's new toyota yaris...hohoho

the whole ict was made more bearable with the jokes and chats with my army friends...food was great too!!(except the combat ration of course)-i had a good 5 day servings of meat!!!hohoho...lotsa meat and veggies...yummy!!!

last holiday-day 3 of 3

another rainy morning...run at macritchie had to be postponed again and for the 2nd day in a row i woke up at 930....

muay notified me abt the mizuno wave run...so i went rl to sign up and also got a pair of ultimax socks using muay's staff discount...

leonard came by to collect his sergeant keroro kits...after that i went to mizuno shop at paragon to see if i could make use of the 30% discount i got from the wave run registration...

got me 2 polo Ts (for work)...they were on promo so no discount...got me another 2 dri fit Ts (i just couldnt resist not using the 30% discount)~impulse buy~told you i'm a sucker for discounts...especially those greater than 20 one~hohoho

anyway...updates...

-another pair of saucony shoes
-a few more pairs of running socks
-a watch
-somemore clothes for work--polo-Ts-- cause tos no need shirt and pants for work woohoo!!
-a new backpack--cause my outdoor's zipper keep bursting open for no reason
-help mum get a new metal thermoflask
-a small fabric type wardrobe for room

think backpack purchase will push back somemore...thermoflask mum say wait for offer then get...wardrobe havent find time to go search...

gonna cut back on next month's spending after this month's trigger happy spending...but u gotta admit...buying stuff for yourself sure is fun!!

last holiday-day 2 of 3

awoken by my 6am phone alarm to give muay a morning call...she had planned to go for a run at macritchie if she could get out of bed by 6...but i guess she deserves a good sleep in after a tiring 2days of kids camp...weather was so shiok to sleep too...

so our 8am run at macrit was cancelled...i too plopped back to sleep and slept till 930...hoho...cant even remember the last time i slept past 9am...

breakfast was again the usual coffee+oats...i have yet to get tired of this menu...

wanted to go for 1 last long run before next wk's ict...but weather wasnt very nice...no sun...so i asked dad to trim my hair first~ict standard~now i have a gong gong look+gong gong hairdo...

after washing up i lazed ard...had a few bites of the pig intestines mum cooked last night...and lo and behold sun was back up!! fun run under the sun!!!

1hr 20 min of mileage...wanted to increase to 1hr 30min today one but i got really bored circling the alexandra park connector after finishing my long route...haiz...

stairs..bathe...milo peng...bananas...movies are up next!!

last holiday-day 1 of 3

woke up automatically at 815...breakfast included the usual coffee+oats...

after breakfast took out my army stuff for next wk's ict...field pack la..sbo la...boots la (man were they moldy...i even went thru the trouble of loosening the laces to kiwi the flap under the laces!!)...no.4 la...pt kit la...camo cream la...insect repellant la...oh ya..that reminds me-i havent pack mozzi coils...

vacuumed the house and took a few bites of the roast pork dad bought from sheng siong before i went for my sprints at 12...after sprints(1.27,1.24,1.32,1.23,1.24,1.23) jogged to the mini gym at alexandra park connector to do some static exercises...

came home had the steamed fishies which dad prepared...the great eastern agent was too busy to meet up today...so i went jalan instead...

got me a watch!! quite an impulse buy i think...i was planning to just look see first but i got tempted when a store at bras basah was selling timex watches at "promo prices"...still quite pricey for a digital watch i thought...in fact its the most i ever spent on a digital watch...my past few digital watches were cheapo casios whose plastic straps didnt last very long...

being so easily tempted by discounts and at the same time trying to find opportunties/excuses to pamper myself ...i decided to pick out a timex (with velcro straps!!) for myself (my excuse was that i havent bought myself a decent watch in YEARS...hohoho) -1 which wasnt too ex, design not too obiang, and 1 which wont look too humongous on my skinny arm...

after fiddling with it for a little longer i noticed the buckle in which the velcro goes thru is those soft plastic...shite...pleassssssssssssseeeeeeeee dont spoil so easily my overpriced digital watch.....pweetty pleasssssssssssssssssssssseeeeeeeeeee

last day at motherland

actually wanted to stop yesterday cus there really wasnt much things left for me to do at the store and i felt bad abt doing nothing over there...and time crawls when you have nothing to do...

but my supe asked me to work till today cus boss will only be back from ict tmr...so i went down today and i asked my supe for sthg to do so at least time did not crawl like yesterday...

really appreciate my boss for hiring me when i needed a part time job the most...there's never a dull moment when he's ard...and my supe is always so nice to me~i love the snack treats!!~

2 long stretches over a period of a yr (i worked there last june after my attachment+ict..this time its after my graduation+before ict)...i've learnt alot...it's been a wonderful experience for me...

yesterday tried out my cohesion...very cushiony...clocked 46min of mileage before stopping to try alexandra park's mini exercise stations...i noticed it during my walk back home from ikea and i wanted to try the stations out...its majiam like a mini gym...without the weights...

after run went to finexis to listen to a financial advisor...trying to keep myself more well-informed abt these insurance/investment thingys...abt time too cus i know the younger i start the better

nice feeling

during one of the many rests i had along the alexandra park connector benches today...i had one of those very nice feeling...

surroundings was very peaceful and quiet...sky was very pretty after a whole day of rain...i was just sitting there...not rushing to wait or waiting to rush...its like for a moment there i was "worry-free"...so nice...

anyways...an update on my things to get/look for
-another pair of saucony shoes
-a few more pairs of running socks
-a watch
-somemore clothes for work--polo-Ts-- cause tos no need shirt and pants for work woohoo!!
-a new backpack--cause my outdoor's zipper keep bursting open for no reason
-help mum get a new metal thermoflask
-a small fabric type wardrobe for room

the longest medical checkup ever

went to tos to sign my letter of appointment in the morning...afterwhich it was off to sata at jurong east for an xray..then to clementi for checkup...by the time the eyesight+hearing+blahblah test were over it was already 1230..the nurse told me to come back ard 230 when the doctor returns

so lunched and went to some void deck to stone...h10 went flat on me...today paper only burned 15min...so i slept...woke up 215...walked back to clinic...waited...waited...waited...waited...

330 then get to see doctor...so cold in the clinic somemore...brrrr

after that made my way to queensway...went past ikea...saw the herman chairs i always wanted to buy going for $19...usual price $22...so i decided to go in and take a look later...

went straight to the shop where i got my fastwitch and got myself a grid cohesion...

after that to ikea...and got me 2 herman chairs-1 green 1 black(they only had 3 colours-green/black/white)...strapped my shoes's bag onto my outdoor and i attempted to carry both chairs home...on foot...hohoho

at first still ok...after almost reaching redhill mrt i started to regret doing what i was doing (i've like stopped to rest my arms a few times le)...after that i walked somemore and decided to walk to the nearest bus stop...but upon reaching the bus stop i thought since almost there liao...just endure abit more la...so walked somemore...reached alexandra park connector...arms very suan le...thank goodness for the benches at the park...

walk until delta...i finally relented and called dad for help...so dad came down and helped me carry one herman for the last stretch

my green herman!! black one i give edwin

saucony grid cohesion

a very very pleasant week

found a job...

finally cleared the chee cheong fan+kfc off the "what edwin wants adrian to go buy" list
had a short gathering with some of my gess classmates on sat night...

runs this wk were great
just came back from by far one of the most satisfying fun run under the sun ever...
weather was great...pace was constant and comforatable...not too fast not too slow...left knee wasnt painful at all...not breathless...not as thirsty as other days...very very shiok...
after stair climb...bathe...had leftover kfc coleslaw+mash potatoes+mountain dew+root beer for lunch...yummy
going csc to see toys later =)

during the run along the commonwealth mrt area today i nearly ran into a lamp post...i was thinking abt how early i shld wake up to catch the company bus at tiong bahru when i suddenly instinctly siam-ed the lamp post...well almost siam-ed la--i ended up with 2 reddish orh chehs at my right shoulder/armpit/chest area...

other things on my mind during the run were things i've been wanting to get recently(since now got gss also)
-another pair of saucony shoes
-a few more pairs of running socks
-a watch
-somemore clothes for work
will go jalan to look see next wk before ict...

tuas here i come!!

meantime its still mornings at motherland

cant even print out the things i have done which boss wants me to print out and compile before i leave...
boss is away for ict next wk...he come back i go for my ict...hoho
after work went for sprints...not too bad...1.26,1.26,1.29,1.29,1.32,1.27
at night had a short "snacking" session with muay...muay said chocs and mr bean pancakes dont qualify as snacks...
heh...so next time it will be sweet chestnuts/binbin spicy rice crackers/colour twisties ok?

a day of outer space job offers

a few weeks ago i got really gan jiong when i found out a number of my friends have already secured jobs...
became worried and decided to step up my job search efforts...
what happened next was a frantic shooting of arrows all over the place and in the dark somemore...

not knowing what job i want doesnt help...not having any career objectives also doesnt help...

all i know was i needed a perm job..sthg i can handle...preferably not too far from home...a good working culture would be nice as well...

jobstreets was a total flop for me...didnt get any replies from all the applications i sent...
same thing happened with jobsfactory...

so i turned to the papers...interview at stk...got rejected...interview at sta...interview at tos...2nd interview at sta...job offer from tos...job offer from sta

so tos is at tuas...slightly further than sta which is at paya lebar...
tos working hrs 730-3+, sta is 8-530...

from what i gather from ronald who is working at esa-also another sister coy of pratt-tos seems to be a better choice as compared to sta...in terms of working culture...in terms of benefits...

working hrs have to learn to adapt...and as in any job we go to-our attitude towards the job has to be good...

so most likely i will take the tos job...have to start getting used to waking reeeaaaal early...
probably be lots of new things for me to learn and be exposed to...

now that there's more or less a closure to my job search...i feel a little relieved...
a brand new journey begins this july after reservist...
never tot i wld get an aerospace job-and as muay puts it-the outer space job-tuas is indeed at the outer spaces of sg...

woopie

"i'm not trying to cheat you, young man"

today a weird uncle came to the store trying to pull a stunt on me...

he brought in 2 sample long round headed screws...asked me if we sell those kinds of screw...

i told him we only sell those flat head countersunk screws and brought him to the area where the screws were to show him...

i took one of the sample he passed to me to compare against the countersunk version we had and i could only find one that was shorter but looked like having the same diameter...he took a look and asked if both were of the same size anot...

i told him i can check for him and he proceeded to act out his oscar performance....hohoho...

he asked me where was the short sample i took from him just now cus he wanted to compare it with the short countersunk one i showed him...i returned the long one to him and he kept insisting that wasnt the one...he kept checking his pocket and said he passed it to me liao...he said he had 1 long and 1 short one...he kept insisting that the long round headed screw was MINE and i had misplaced his SHORT round headed screw in the small compartment where the short countersunk screws were kept...

i tried to reason with him that we dont even sell the round headed screws and how can i produce a LONG screw from the compartment of SHORT screws...and he started to sound very disappointed saying i must have stared at the pc for too long le...how can i not remember that i took HIS short screw...

he then said chaaam la...went all the way to chinatown and bought wat sink thing and now he missing 1 SHORT screw...and kept saying "i not trying to cheat you young man"...

then he went on to say the short countersunk screw was his and placed the long screw inside the compartment of SHORT countersunk screws and kept insisting the LONG round headed screw was mine and i took it from the compartment of SHORT countersunk screws...

i decided i couldnt reason with this best actor so i said...ok sir...this SHORT countersunk screw that u brought...how many do you want...

he said 5

so i took out 5 for him

then my boss also came by and asked best actor can he help him...then he showed my boss the short countersunk screw and asked if it could fit in the sink thing...my boss say most prob cannot and took out one of those sink things for him to try...

he tried and it cannot go in...then my boss said just buy another one of those sink thing la...

best actor pondered pondered and said hmm...the thread different hor...then he returned me the 5 countersunk screws which he "wanted to buy" and paid for the sink thing

and all through the sizzling performance, best actor did not raise his voice or become rowdy...he acted out his script nicely in gentlemanly english somemore....hohoho

"you are my sunshine"

another nice one...
tear jerker warning at the ending portion where eun-ha finally meets sook-joong...

fun run to bt timah!

i have always wanted to run from home to bt timah for the longest time and i finally did it today...
so instead of turning towards commonwealth at holland v, i followed the bus75 route-jelita-pandan valley-maju camp-sim-ngee ann poly-bt timah plaza...took me abt 1hr 10min

initially i tot of running till beauty world and take a short water break at the toilet...but i wanted to have a feel of running 2hrs non-stop...so i u-turned at bt timah plaza and headed home...

return trip was shiong...mainly becas my knees were nua nua already and i became SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO thirsty...i tried to push as far as i could to clock the 2hrs but i stopped short of 10min...

so after 1hr 50min, i started to walking home...how i yearned for a drink of water...

i tried to start running again at the british council cus the walk was like taking forever but i only lasted another 10min of snail speed jog before i resumed walking...WATERRRRRR...

walk walk walk all the way back to delta avenue...stopped by the spc toilet to quench my thirst before heading home..bathed and it was milo peng time...hohoho

thoroughly enjoyed the run...except for the dying of thirst part...
got chio bu to see also....hohoho
a few at sim and ngee ann bus stops...
a chio bu was jogging...
another chio bu was walking her dog...
hehe...runs sprinkled with some eye candy is always fun!

scorching fun run sunday

seeing how brilliant the weather is today...i decided to go for another run to make up for the shitty one i did yesterday...

almost didnt take the long route cus the pain in my left knee started to set in only after 400m into the delta area...but i carried on and slowly the pain went away...heng ah...

replaced the holt road slope with the alexandra park connector which led me to the jervois hill area slopes...pace was good all the way till the long stretch leading to holland v...that portion was trying...the knee pain came back once in awhile but it was bearable...

finished the run in 1hr 7min...slow stair climb...bathed and enjoyed a nice mug of milo-peng...yummy

opened up another toy this morning too-cybertron soundwave...to make myself happy...heh...
instead of wallowing in self pity i tot i'd better pick myself up and dust myself off...

exam results coming out next wk...gonna have to put in more effort in my job search after that...

adrian needs a laugh

today's fun run under the sun was like shit...pace was horrendously slow...
added a holt road slope and it took me like 1hr 12min to complete the long route...
felt so lethargic and crappy throughout the run...
i normally am able to put mind over matter...and push myself as much as i can...but today...haiz...

feeling ridiculously lousy for the past few days...
maybe i shldnt have watched those 2 depressing movies yesterday....nabeiz...
cant wait for sunday and monday...got 我猜 and 十字路口 (and maybe one piece and simpsons) to watch...

think i havent had a good laugh for quite some time...
adrian needs a laugh...
can someone make me laugh?

sad movies friday

took the day off to go for an interview this morning...came back...ran...too long never sprint le...made today's sprint interval very very exhausting...

finally finished up with my blue astray kit and it's sitting nicely in my display cabinet...

took a nap even though i wasnt feeling tired...tot i better catch up on some sleep since i have waking at 730 almost everyday...

then i began my movie marathon...

first up was "sad movie"...sad man...really really sad movie...despite having some light moments here and there...the ending part was a barrage of sadness...especially the part when hui-chan cried outside the hospital because he did not want his mum to hear...sigh...sad...very very sad...

next up is "the weather man"...not as sad...but depressing...sigh

what i need now is something funny to nullify this overwhelming feeling of sadness and depression...
